June 2015 User Group Meeting

Thank you everyone for joining us in June. Our sessions were

Session 1: What's Up Next for SharePoint?

A lot of announcements came out during Microsoft’s Ignite conference across a wide array of services. With these came news about SharePoint 2016 as well as some additional services that will provide more connectivity between SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 providing more seamless interaction in hybrid scenarios. In this discussion we covered topics from infrastructure and development as well as other things such as the upcoming release dates, links to videos, etc.

Session 2: ECM Strategy with Office 365/SharePoint

Enterprise Content Management (ECM) is a formalized means of organizing and storing an organization's documents, and other content that relate to the organization's processes. Implementing good ECM strategy in an organization can be a bitter pill at best. We talked about how you can sell 'making a commitment to ECM' a great return on investment and how Office 365 can make it even easier to do. We looked specifically at what the newest features in Office 365 (and SharePoint 2016) can do to help you make good ECM a reality.

Thanks to all our speakers, Cory Williams, Dean Gross, Jotam Batista and David Brown.

Thanks to our sponsor Cardinal Solutions and to Packard Place for providing the location.

September 2014 Meeting

We had a good audience for our September meeting with our main session covering the SharePoint Business Analyst presented by Vicki Rodas and Mike Mckernan from Cardinal Solutions. Cory Williams followed up with a summary of the SharePoint Online Updates for August-September. This session may be a recurring topic at our meetings and if not it will be it will be posted to our Yammer network.

This SharePoint BA presentation provides an overview of the SharePoint Business Analyst, what they can do for your projects, and the skills, responsibilities, and tools essential to a business analyst. It is the their hope that this will build the case for why your organization needs SharePoint Business Analysts.

Vicki and Mike share many of the same skillsets, yet come from very different backgrounds.  Vicki is a veteran SharePoint user with a firm understanding of business analysis.  Mike is a seasoned business analyst with a firm understanding of SharePoint. Together, they have been working on developing a SharePoint Business Analyst program and training material at Cardinal Solutions Group to teach the foundations of business analysis in the SharePoint World.  They believe SharePoint Business Analysts are crucial to the success of any SharePoint project.  SharePoint Business Analysts must understand the SharePoint platform and be skilled at interacting with stakeholders by gathering requirements effectively to determine if solutions can be built leveraging out of the box functionality or if they require development.

We are planning on 2 sessions. Details coming soon
